The Mid-America Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter #980 is proud to announce the Southeast Kansas Celebration of Flight fly-in on Saturday, September 14that the independence Municipal Airport in Independence, KS.
The event marks the first fly-in to be held in Independence, KS, since 2012, and promises to be an event that the whole family will enjoy.
You’ll see experimental aircraft, antique airplanes, flight simulators, and exhibits from RANS Aircraft, known for their production of Experimental Light Sport Aircraft kits for award-winning, homebuilt aircraft, and American Kodiak, Quest’s exclusive dealer for Kodiak 100, “The Luxury SUV With Wings” a seven-state area, including Kansas.
There will be a fully-equipped MedFlight helicopter, exhibits by local Police and Fire Departments, Ambulance services, and lots of other great things to explore.
There are Forums for pilots and also those interested in learning about careers in aviation, and various other exhibits and youth activities will be featured.
EAA Chapter 980 will be serving a pancake breakfast and lunch in the EAA Building near the registration tent.
Another highlight of the Celebration of Flight is the Young Eagles Program for youth ages 8-17. Since it was established in 1992, volunteer pilots have flown more than 2 million Young Eagles in 90 countries around the world.

The experience includes a brief ground school lesson, a free 15-20 minute flight, a log book signed by their pilot, and a certificate for participating. The official Young Eagles log book even includes a personal code to activate your free EAA Student Membership and Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course.
This extraordinary program, through the commitment and generosity of volunteer pilots, has flown over 2 million young people throughout the United States since it was created in 1992.
